Imaginisce is having their "Mix and Match" week over on the blog.
It's a fun challenge to mix collections up a bit- but sometimes the end result is messy and cluttered, so here I put together a layout with a very simple clean look, but it actually has elements from three different Imaginisce collections.
This layout is about my two boys' big-time adventure on the 4th of July this year. It's tradition that we always go waterskiing on the 4th, and this year my parents thought is was about time all the grandkids learned to ski, so they bought this "Ski Trainer." It's pretty much a tube with ski-like slots for their feet so they can stand up, but it was super cool to see them do it. They were so dang proud of themselves (as you can see in the photos).
The patterned paper the flags are made of, and the "Hooray" strip, are from the new Hello Cupcake line. I also used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher stapling tool.
The border strip with the circles, and the strip with the pennants are both from the Animal Crackers collection. The orange scalloped stitching was done with the Sew Easy tool by We R Memory keepers, and the Sew Easy scalloped edge head. The tool just pokes the holes.... I had to hand stitch the design.
It took forever.
I should have timed it, seriously. I stitched while my daughter sat by me and we watched a LOT of The Little Mermaid. That's why the white stitching on the blue paper was done with the sewing machine :)
The patterned paper (yellow, blue, and orange) is from the Makin' Waves collection, as well as the cute chipboard fish and the boy die cut.
The letter stickers are by Bella Blvd.
It's a bit more challenging to "Mix and Match" when collections don't necessarily all have the same core colors, but I think I pulled it off.
I was so proud of my boys that day, that I had to do a page for them.
Thanks for visiting, and check out the rest of the Design Team's creations over at the Imaginisce Blog all this week!
