Countdown!

Lifestyle Crafts newest release of cutting dies debuted today on the L Blog.
This release is all about party planing, celebration, and fun!

Here are some of the projects I created using this new release:

Patterned paper by Bo Bunny

Recognize this?  Here's the full view of my layout.  Isn't the paper divine?  The black velvet chenille paper is Doodlebug and the other papers are Making Memories and Best Creation.  I even made more of my own custom paper to match using the L Letterpress, Damask printing plates, and silver letterpress ink.

For Time and All Eternity
The pearls are Prima and the tulle flowers are Making Memories.
The clock die is my favorite of this new release.  Here I cut it using vellum.

And this is an "Edge It's" die.

The Labels die makes it fun and easy for you to create custom party favors and labels for anything.  Here I used the labels die on this bottle, and also on.....
This card.  The labels have die-cut slits in the side to slide through ribbon.
This card also features the L Letterpress and the Damask and Flourish printing plates and black and silver ink.
As always, you can get 20% off your entire order with the code: RHINESTONES at checkout from the

Don't forget about this week's giveaway that I mentioned yesterday,
a $500 shopping spree.

"Just For You" Release + Discount Code and iPad 2 giveaway!

Introducing the "Just for You" release.
This release includes rosette dies, a cute bakery box die with labels, a frame or card easel die with embellishments, and four new mini alphabets.
Here are a few fun project ideas for these dies.

Thinking ahead to holidays that are coming up, I needed more Valentines items for my home.
Pennants are super popular (and super cute) so I thought I'd make one!
This pennant was made using the new Rosette die with the eyelet edge.  The rosette dies also have circle dies to coordinate with the center of the rosette.
I also used the Edge It die set and the nesting pennant dies
The letters on the pennant are one of the new mini alphabets.
The paper and ribbon is from Stampin' Up!

I wanted to think "outside the box" with the Rosette die, so I thought it would be fun to make it a ruffle instead of a Rosette!
I used the Rosette die for the "ruffled" pink strip across the card.  Instead of gluing the edges to make a rosette, you can fan fold it and keep it flat to make ruffles.  I also used the nesting leaves die set.
It's nice to see some bright summer colors in the middle of winter- don't you think? :)

Paper is by My Mind's Eye, ribbon and button is Stampin' Up!, cardstock is Making Memories, twine is Doodlebug

The Bakery Box die set is another fun one.  I can see myself using this one a lot for treat gifts.
It's the cutest little thing! :)
Probably my favorite box from Lifestyle Crafts so far.

It comes with two sets of labels for the front of the box.

Paper is Doodlebug (birthday box) and stash from my scraps for the other one.  Cardstock is Stampin' Up! and the cute cake brad is Doodlebug

The card and easel die was used for these two projects.  You can cut the front of a card with a window:
And also cut an easel for the back.
It also comes with flowers or holly berries to embellish the front.
Paper is Stampin' Up!

One last project.  I'm in a "teal" phase.  And a damask phase (have you seen my craft room? :)  My daughter's room is also damask.  Just love it :)
This frame uses the L Letterpress, the Damask Printing Plate Set, and silver and teal ink.

Special discount just for you for the "Just For You" release celebration!

Bridal Shower

I absolutely love parties!  I love hosting them, I love having people over, I love the atmosphere.....and I love the FOOD! :)  I enjoy throwing parties for family and friends, and recently I had the chance to invite some new friends over when I hosted a bridal shower for a sweet friend, and I wanted to share some fun ideas with you using the L Letterpress and Lifestyle Crafts dies.

I love the look of the Flourish printing plates- I think they look so elegant.  What better thing to use them for than a bridal shower!  You could totally change this up a bit and make these for wedding invitations as well.  These were the invitations for the shower.  I also used the Calligraphy printing plates for the monogram, and the Splendid printing plates for the words.

The design for the card is courtesy of the A7 Card Collection dies.  The die cuts the front of the card and also cuts the doors.  What a fun way to open an invitation!
The monogram was letterpressed and then cut out using the Nesting Frames 4 die set, which is my all-time favorite die set in the Possibilities Release.

I made special bags for some of the food items- these were cinnamon chips that had a fruit "salsa" dip.  Sounds weird, I know, but so SO good!
I used the paper bag die, trellis border die, and nesting blossom dies for these bags.
I also used more nesting frames for the food labels.  Isn't nesting frames 3 elegant?  Love it!

I wrapped the cupcakes in the Botanical cupcake liner die

I also wanted to find a cute way to give advice to the bride, so I had each guest select a flower when they arrived and had them write their best marriage advice for the bride and add it to a "bouquet."

Faux Suede Technique

I have a card on the Lifestyle Crafts blog today, and I just wanted to tell you about the technique used in making the flower. Though it looks like it's made of tissue paper or another material, it is in fact the same cardstock that was used to make the base of the card.

Die cut various sizes of circles, then crumple each one up several times to loosen the fibers in the cardstock. After 4-5 times, the cardstock will start to separate. Peel each circle, separating the layers, until you now have two circles. The two insides that were once touching each other now look like "faux suede." Layer all the flowers on top of each other with all the "faux suede" sides facing up, and crinkle the edges as desired.

Voila! Suede-looking flower!

Letterpress 101

I've spent the last couple of days with my L Letterpress making darling bridal shower invitations. The Letterpress is a tool that takes a bit of learning, and takes a bit of practice to get used to, but is a fantastic tool and can be great for mass-production. I made 30 cards, and I'm so excited to show them to you as well as the rest of the shower decor in about a week and a half when we have the shower. Lifestyle Crafts has a great tutorial on their blog about the most important thing to know about the letterpress- how to ink it. Once you get that perfect, the rest is a cinch.
See the tutorial HERE.
I used this plate on my invitations, it's from the Flourish Printing Plate set. I'm excited to share them with you soon.
