American Crafts Halloween- Target Exclusive + Pebbles "Thirty One"

American Crafts has an exclusive Halloween collection this year that you can only find

at Target Stores.  It includes spooky labels, party favors, sequins, banners, and more!

These labels are my absolute favorite!  I paired them with the decorative tags from Pebbles' Thirty One collection, as well as some Thirty One patterned papers and American Crafts twine.

The sequins are beautiful.  Stars and circles and tiny specks.  They would be so cute in vellum or plastic for a card.

These hats come in a large pack and can be used as place settings at a party.  The adhesive is already on them, so you just open the package, peel and stick and you're done!

Instead of putting the icons on the white label, you can put them on the fringe and write the person's name.

All of these jars are old vinegar bottles that I emptied.  Some of them still have the old vinegar with old brown chili peppers.  It adds to the gross effect.

And here's the awesome banner.  This photo does not do it justice.  It's amazing.

And the best part is that all the letters are chipboard stickers, so you just peel and stick and you're done!

So cute, and so easy!

Project Life Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic- Exclusive to Michael's Stores!

I've been told for a couple of years by a friend of mine about Project Life and how much she loved it, but I didn't actually look into the system until a few months ago when I saw Project Life on TV.  

I was in love when I saw it, and a couple of days later I bought every single Core Kit that Becky Higgins had released to date (except Cherry, which was sold out).

I. AM. HOOKED.  and oh baby, I. AM. IN. LOVE!

As you know by reading my blog, I am a huge scrapbooker.  I scrapbook the detailed, layered, embellished way.  But I scrapbook for fun, I don't go in order, and I don't have the "I need to catch up" mentality to it.

And that's great, but my kids need to see their life, 

and my photos need a place to go rather on my computer, right?

How do you catch up when you've got three kids and 13 years of marriage to document?

Enter- Project Life.

I love it.  It's simple, cute, and fast.  It requires no glue, no tools, and no skills of any kind.

You don't have to be a scrapbooker to do this.

I can do a whole year of photos in a day or two.  And that's what I'm doing.

One year and one kit at a time.

And I'm loving it.

And I'll show you more of my system soon.  Very soon.

I don't do Project Life the "traditional" way- or the way it was first intended when it was introduced.

I don't do a spread per week, or per month, I do a spread per event.  Just like I do with scrapbooking.  I don't like the feeling of being "behind" and taking a photo per day or trying "keep up" doesn't work for me.  So I started at the beginning, printed one set of photos per year, and got to it. 

Most of the time I don't embellish my Project Life spreads at all.  There's no need.

But with this one I added a few stickers and brads.

The Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic kit is absolutely beautiful.  I was excited to see all of the icons and designs that were in the 5th and Frolic scrapbooking line put into Project Life form.  Don't you love that little camera?

And the flowers and trees... it's beautiful.

If you want to, you can add a little interest by layering the small cards on top of the big cards.

Or don't.  It's cute either way!

You can add a few letter stickers and embellishments, or don't.  Don't make it to complicated or harder than it has to be.  The cards themselves are all you need to make a book that your family will cherish.

It's really all about the journaling and the story telling.  Throw your photos into the page protectors, add cards with a little journaling to help remember the details, and you're done!

I like to round the corners of my photos to help them slip in easier.

Look into Project Life.  I really think it's the perfect way for everyone to make memorable albums.

American Crafts Dear Lizzie Fifth & Frolic Layout

 American Crafts Dear Lizzie Fifth & Frolic

will be debuting in all JoAnn's stores on March 17th!

The line, designed by the incredibly talented Elizabeth Kartchner, 

features crisp blues, pinks, greens, yellows and airy neutrals with hints of gold.  

I've been a huge fan of Fifth & Frolic ever since I first laid eyes on it, and I'm a huge fan of all the Dear Lizzy lines from American Crafts.  They are always soft and lovely, with beautiful images and embellishments.  

I was sent some of the beautiful papers in this line, and some of the embellishments. It is an honor to be able to review this line and help promote it's release.

"Three"

This background paper is my favorite of the collection.  I love the colors, the pattern, everything.  It's happy and bold, yet soft.  Can something be bold and soft?  It's beautiful.

The "3" card was cut from a piece of patterned paper, and aren't those brads to die for?
I love that the brad pack has such a great variety of metal and fabric brads in a variety of colors.
The feathers are from a dimensional sticker pack.  There are three sets of feathers in the pack, and they come with the rhinestones and twine already attached!

These cute little hearts were punched from a sheet of POW Glitter paper.  I love this paper because it's got brilliant sparkle, but if you feel it, it's perfectly smooth, and the glitter doesn't come off!
American Crafts is brilliant :)

Here's my favorite brad of the pack.  Isn't it darling?

A lot of the thin border pieces on this layout are from the bar code strip of the patterned paper.

American Crafts and their sister companies always put a pattern on the reverse side of the bar code strip that you can use.

Didn't I already say the word brilliant?  I'll say it again- Brilliant!!

 And aren't the little banner pieces too cute?

I'd love to take credit for creating them and stitching on them, but believe it or not they come this way!

They are called Flutterbys and are from the sheet below.  They come punched, you just gently tug and pop the strand out, and they're connected by the string.

Love love these.

Imaginisce Monthly Challenge- February Sketch Challenge

Every month on the Imaginisce Blog is a Monthly Challenge that you can participate in to win prizes!  This month, the challenge is to create a layout based on this sketch by DT member Diana Fisher.  

The layout has to include:

-At least three patterned papers

-At least three embellishments

-At least 75% Imaginisce products

Here's my take on the challenge.  I have to say... I really love this sketch.

 My sweet daughter has two loves in this world (besides her family of course):

Princesses & Ladybugs.

(you get to see her love of ladybugs in another layout soon)

She's 100% girl and loves dolls, tiaras, dress-ups, and pink!

This layout uses the "Enchanted" collection from Imaginisce.

 The letters are Thickers letter stickers from American Crafts.  I thought they'd be perfect for this layout.  The paper flowers are also Imaginisce, and the centers are some older Making Memories brads.

I used a few beads I had laying around from my jewelry making days and threaded them through a pin for a fun embellishment.  I also love sewing on paper.  It gives extra texture and interest to projects.

 This border was done using an EK Success border punch.  It punches and embosses at the same time.

Lifestyle Crafts CHA Winter 2012 Release

The Winter 2012 Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Trade Show is going on right now in Anaheim, California and Lifestyle Crafts is there, along with Doodlebug, Imaginisce, Brookie Crafts, and hundreds of other craft companies, showcasing their newest product lines.  It's the largest gathering of craft-related companies and is like the Scrapbook Expo on steroids.  I can't tell you how much I'd love to be there right now... but since I'm not, I'm perusing the web looking at all the fun pictures people are taking, and having fun seeing all the newest scrapbooking paper lines and tools that are coming out soon.  It's so exciting!

My wallet is definitely going to suffer.

Lifestyle Crafts has new products and I'm going to show you some of the projects I made to send to their booth at CHA using some of their fun new dies.  This is a HUGE release, and not all the dies are featured here, but it'll give you a small taste :)

There are some really beautiful new border dies, as well as three new doily dies and Nesting Butterflies!

The green, red, and blue strips are all border dies, and they're all 12" long, perfect for scrapbooking.

I've been waiting a long time for butterflies, and here they are, and two of the doily shapes are on this layout as well.  There's also another new nesting die set called Nesting Frames 9, and is on the photo above, under the green doily.

 

I really love the soft vintage feel of the border dies.  They are some of my favorites from this release.

The paper is by Stampin' Up! 

They've also come out with lots of new fun box dies.  This one's the Berry Container.

I made the strawberries using the Nesting Blossom and Nesting Spray dies from the Possibilities release.  I thought they'd be a fun addition to the Berry Container.

I made a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to make these strawberries that I'll post on my blog sometime soon.  The paper is "Country Drive" by Echo Park.

 

The white flower on the front of the container is from the Nesting Spray die set as well.

Here's another fun box- the Milk Carton die.  I LOVE this die, and I can see myself using it for Easter treats for my kids.  Wouldn't it be fun to make a set of them, and a fun box to put them in?  I think I'm going to :)

 

This darling paper is also "Country Drive" by Echo Park.

The clip is Stampin' Up! and the twine is from The Twinery.

This cute box is called the "Treat Box" and comes with different styles of flowers or labels to use on top.

Or, on this one, I thought it would be fun to use a sucker instead.

I put the label on the front that comes with the set.  The rhinestones and heart are I-Rock gems from Imaginisce.  The paper is by Creative Imaginations.

This is the "Pop Up Box."  It's great because the closure is interchangeable.  You can either put a flower, heart, or butterfly on top.  Then it folds and closes through a slit on the top of the box.

I also used one of the new border dies on this box.

The paper, pearl, and ribbon are Stampin' Up!

There are also some new envelope sets.  This one is the Eyelet Envelope Set,

and it also comes with a mini envelope to match. (paper- American Crafts, brads Making Memories)

And this one is the Basic Envelope Set, and it comes with labels, a card die, and a mini version as well.

I letterpressed the "congratulations" using the L Letterpress and the Letterpress starter kit plates.

Silver glitter cardstock- Doodlebug, solid cardstock- Stampin' Up!

This card features the third new doily, Nesting Frames 9, the Nesting Butterflies, and another border die.

The paper is by My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is Stampin' Up!

 

This is the Pinwheel die, and is a really great die, because you can make real 3D pinwheels that spin!

These would be so cute as party decor!

The set comes with dies to embellish the center. (paper- My Mind's Eye)

There's also a new Megaphone die.

I added a star from the new Stars die, which is a "punch" die set with 8 large and 12 small stars.

And my last little project is the "Hamburger Box."

Paper and ribbon are by Stampin' Up!

There are so many more dies than are shown here.  This release is huge.
