Pebbles Halloween Treat Bags + Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn Recipe!

One of my October projects for Pebbles were these cute treat bags.  I was going to "Witches Only" party, with a treat swap, and a papercrafter like me can't go to a party like that without making my treats adorable.

Adorable, right?

The toppers were made by hand cutting the white banners, and then the rest was done with Stampin' Up! punches.  I embossed the orange circles with a spiderweb Cuttlebug embossing folder and my Big Shot, and then adhered it all together with dimensional foam adhesive.

The toppers were attached to the treat bags by punching a tiny hole with my mini hole punch (Martha Stewart) and then I tied them on with Doodlebug Doodle-Twine

And what's inside you ask?

Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn!

Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn:

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

1 cube margarine

1 cup corn syrup

1 cup brown sugar

1 large bag candy corn

Cook all ingredients except candy corn over medium heat until at the soft ball stage, or until you can drop a little in a cup of cold water and the candy will set up and feel soft.

Pour over a large full bowl of popcorn (1/2 cup kernels, air popped)

Stir in candy corn as desired.

Enjoy!

Doodlebug Halloween Mini Album (part 2)

If you've been a reader of mine for a while now (a couple of years)

you may remember a mini album I did for Doodlebug Design two years ago.

Doodlebug Pixies-Halloween Layout

The Doodlebug Design Team was challenged to use the new Pixies embellishments in a new way.

Pixies come with sticks and toppers in a pack, and are meant to be used like I used them in the bottom left corner, but they can also be used in a lot of other creative ways.

I chose to use them to make a black spiderweb, and I used Beetle Black Doodle Twine to complete the effect.  I used Crystal Effects adhesive but you can use any liquid adhesive like Zip Dry as well.

I used the Halloween Parade collection, and the new stickers and Doodads.

I think I've used Doodads on almost all of my new Doodlebug Projects.

These are fun new embellishments!  They add fun texture and dimension to your projects!

American Crafts Halloween- Target Exclusive + Pebbles "Thirty One"

American Crafts has an exclusive Halloween collection this year that you can only find

at Target Stores.  It includes spooky labels, party favors, sequins, banners, and more!

These labels are my absolute favorite!  I paired them with the decorative tags from Pebbles' Thirty One collection, as well as some Thirty One patterned papers and American Crafts twine.

The sequins are beautiful.  Stars and circles and tiny specks.  They would be so cute in vellum or plastic for a card.

These hats come in a large pack and can be used as place settings at a party.  The adhesive is already on them, so you just open the package, peel and stick and you're done!

Instead of putting the icons on the white label, you can put them on the fringe and write the person's name.

All of these jars are old vinegar bottles that I emptied.  Some of them still have the old vinegar with old brown chili peppers.  It adds to the gross effect.

And here's the awesome banner.  This photo does not do it justice.  It's amazing.

And the best part is that all the letters are chipboard stickers, so you just peel and stick and you're done!

So cute, and so easy!

Pebbles "Thirty One" projects!

Every month the Pebbles Design Team makes a couple of extra projects that you will only see on the designers' blogs.  Here are my projects from September.  I used the awesome new "Thirty One" collection.

And today I'm decorating my house for my favorite holiday...

HALLOWEEN!!!

These books are some old encyclopedias that I used as a child for my school assignments.

My sister and mom and some other girls in the family all took some of the books and Mod-Podged them with cute Halloween papers.

Then I used a variety of cute spooky Thickers letter stickers

for the spines to make the book titles

These cadaver tags are kind of adorable, in a gruesome way (decorative tags 732308)

If you know the basics of how to use your sewing machine, try this simple cute project for Halloween.

When I was first learning how to sew, the first project my mom had me do was a drawstring bag.

It teaches so many great sewing fundamentals, and is a great way to start.

It only takes a few basic sewing tools, and you can make it any size you want to!

Doodlebug Halloween Project

Where have I been?

Well.....

my brother got married

the kiddos started school again

I'm preparing to interview for a new job

and... I'm starting graduate school Monday to get my Master's degree

So. so. sorry :)

I'm back.

First up, I made these cute little Halloween Party Invitations for the Doodlebug Blog.

I'm loving this new collection and their new embellishments:

Mini Pockets

Doodads (badges)

Simply Put Cards (4x6 card packs)

and Sprinkles! (which you'll see soon on another project)

This is a fun way to create party invitations.  Just use a Simply Put 4x6 card, add a Mini Pocket, and embellish.  Easy easy.

I added some Doodle Twine and some stickers and Fancy Frills border stickers.

Just write your message on the card for a fast invitation!

Bella Blvd CHA Fabric Project! Witch Dress and Hat!

I have one more project for you that I created for Bella Blvd's CHA Trade Show booth.

Bella Blvd asked me to create some fabric projects using their newest fabric collection- Too Cute To Spook.

I sent them some other items, too, but this was my favorite fabric project!

Isn't she the cutest?  I mean, really!

I wanted to make my daughter a witch dress she could wear for our annual "Witches Nite Out" event we do here in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It's tradition for hundreds of women to dress up and attend this two night event, eat treats, dance and shop.  Up to this point, it's just been my mom, aunts, sister, and friends, but this year I've got to bring the newest, cutest witch- my daughter :)

The dresses at Witches Nite Out are elaborate, with bussles and trains and trim and lights and yards and yards of fabric.  This dress is not quite as elaborate, and I actually used parts of a princess dress pattern for parts of it.  I made it long enough to touch the ground, and then I added sleeves, extra bussels, and lots and lots of extra fabric, trim and lots of tulle underneath. 

The hats are what are really over-the-top.  This one is less elaborate but perfect for a first-time little girl's hat.  To make the rose I used my ruffler foot (or you could just gather a long strip of fabric) and rolled it into a rose shape and tucked the edges under.  The feathers and embellishments were hot glued rather than sewn onto the hat.
