I created this layout using the new "Sweet Cakes" collection from Doodlebug Design. It will be featured on the Doodlebug Blog today. Tune in to the Doodlebug Blog all week long to see more creations using this collection.
Have you played with Sweet Cakes yet? I LOVE it! So cute, and sparkly, and darling-ly full of cupcake and cake goodness. It's perfect for Valentines, but it can also be used for so many other things, like for instance, a darling little one-year-old girl's "Cupcake" themed birthday party! Her cupcake-cake was even pink. It was perfect!
And I'm just gonna say- she is WAY cuter than a cupcake, though cupcakes are pretty darn cute!
We were asked to create a layout using this fantastic sketch by Design Team member Aphra Bolyer:
The great thing about sketches is that you make them your own. You can turn them, rotate them, flip them, change the embellishments... whatever makes it work for you, your supplies, and your project.

The title was done using Doodlebug's letter stickers. They have such cute fonts. The label is a "cute-cuts" element and the brads are from the "confection" and "sweet treats" brad packs. Doodlebug has a few different packs with "treat" themes.
The cupcake is a brand new "Doodle-Pops" sticker called "Baby Cake." I highlighted the edges a bit more by sticking it onto red patterned paper and cutting around it with scissors. It makes it "pop." And of course- it already came with the "bling" which is one of the many reasons I love Doodle-Pops so much.
This cute cake and the flags are from the Sweet Cakes Sugar Coated Icons Stickers. Just popped them up a bit more with some dimensional foam adhesive.
And the pennants were cut using the "Birthday Bash" Cricut Cartridge. I cut the pennant and the shadow, and then cut it a third time bigger for the white layer. The brads are Doodlebug Mini Brads, and the ribbon is an older ribbon from Doodlebug called "Loopy Love." Since Doodlebug's core colors carry over year-to-year, you can be sure your older collections will still match the newer collections!
Thanks for visiting!
