Bella Blvd Fabric Style- Puppet Theater

Puppet-Theater_TiffanyHood_detail-1

I made this for my kids for Christmas. They have a ton of puppets they've collected, mostly from Ikea, and I've always wanted them to have a big wooden puppet theater, but there just isn't room, so I made them a doorway puppet theater that when taken down can be rolled up and easily stored. The theater is held in the doorway with a tension rod. I used a 5/8" rod, but you can use whatever you can find at the store. I made this theater 32" wide because that's the width of the doors at our house. The opening for the puppets is about 20"x18."

I inserted dowel rods at the bottom, and above and below the opening before sewing up the sides. This creates a lot of stability and structure. The curtains are on their own rod and can be un-tied and closed.

The banner was done by cutting out and sewing on yellow felt triangles. I added a ribbon trim along the top.

The kids absolutely love it.

Doodlebug Holiday Traditions Layout- "Apples"

Our family has a lot of holiday traditions, we always to fondue on Christmas Eve, we go to a certain park with lights every year, we go to Temple Square to see the choir and the magnificent lights and scenes, and we always, always, always make our now "famous" caramel apples!

We've been making these since 2006, and we usually do them with my side of the family and the kids and cousins (and eat them all ourselves) and then later on, my husband and I have made it a tradition to make these for the neighbors- the cinnamon-sugar version.

The ones in the photos are mostly ones made by the kiddos, but the white chocolate cinnamon-sugar ones have become a perfected art, are very time consuming, and we only settle for perfect (or close to perfect) looking ones for our neighbors and friends.  It's so much fun!

What are some of your holiday traditions?

Doodlebug "Neighbor Gift Ideas"- Caramel Apples

Our traditional neighbor gifts are Caramel Apples.  We've been making these babies since 2006, and they're a labor of love, let me tell you. :)

We buy the biggest granny smith apples we can find, and the best caramel and white chocolate coating, and we've perfected the technique. Most of the time we add cinnamon-sugar to the outside, but we've also done toffee, candies, or chocolate drizzles.  Yummy!!!

(The cinnamon-sugar is my favorite- just like Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory)

I made this super simple card using Doodlebug's "Simply Put" cards, added it to a white piece of cardstock and then a green cardstock base, and then added a sticker with dimensional adhesive, and a "Mini Bow" that are Doodlebug's cute little embellishment kits that coordinate with the "Home for the Holidays" collection.

The apple was simply dressed with another bow, some twine, and a sticker!

Don't you wish you were my neighbor? :)

Pebbles Layout- "So Many Smiles Begin With You"

As you can see, I've been using the "From Me To You" collection a lot lately.  I am so in love with this beautiful collection.  I love the colors, the soft delicate details, the chalkboard  elements, and the beautiful stickers and photo frames.

These butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch.  Notice the cute little typewriter?  It's chipboard, and it one of my favorite embellishments from this collection.

These Thickers are "Kenzie" font, Gumball color.  They actually match better than the photo implies.
I love the chipboard embellishments.  This chalkboard frame and the flowers are both from the Chips pack of chipboard.

And these "LOVE" stickers are lovely.  Notice the photo frame overlay?  These come in a pack of various styles and sizes and make your photos pop.

Doodlebug Fall Wreath and Thankful Layout

This wreath should appear sometime on the Doodlebug Blog, but for now, I thought I'd show you since we're leaving the fall season and entering winter.

The wreath was done by cutting various shaped and sized leaves from my Silhouette Cameo using Doodlebug's Happy Harvest collection.

The leaves were then scored with my Scor-Pal to make them more life-like

And then folded to create dimension

I used grapevine to make the wreath base.  You can either make the wreath this way, by wrapping it in a circle and then tying it with craft (floral) wire,

Or they do make grapevine wreaths already done for you.  I just had grapevine on hand already so that's what I used.  It's a bit difficult to work with and makes a huge mess, so do it outside.

The leaves were all adhered using a glue gun.

And the banner was also cut with the Cameo.  The font is Times New Roman.

I also made this layout for the blog, and since yesterday was Thanksgiving, I wanted to thank you all for being such great supporters of my blog and my work.  I love having great comments and emails from readers.

Thank you!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends!

I'm so thankful for all of you!

Pebbles "From Me To You" Cards (Edited)

These cards were made using the "From Me To You" collection from Pebbles.  Two of the cards include the gorgeous gold rub-on sentiments.

Can you see the gorgeous shine?

This card was made with the polaroids from a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock, as well as some stickers and page pebbles, and a little bit of American Crafts cardstock.

And this card once again uses the gold rub-ons, some chipboard, American Crafts cardstock, and a doily cut from a Lifestyle Crafts die.

Pebbles Halloween Treat Bags + Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn Recipe!

One of my October projects for Pebbles were these cute treat bags.  I was going to "Witches Only" party, with a treat swap, and a papercrafter like me can't go to a party like that without making my treats adorable.

Adorable, right?

The toppers were made by hand cutting the white banners, and then the rest was done with Stampin' Up! punches.  I embossed the orange circles with a spiderweb Cuttlebug embossing folder and my Big Shot, and then adhered it all together with dimensional foam adhesive.

The toppers were attached to the treat bags by punching a tiny hole with my mini hole punch (Martha Stewart) and then I tied them on with Doodlebug Doodle-Twine

And what's inside you ask?
Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn!

Candy Corn Caramel Popcorn:

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 cube margarine
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 large bag candy corn

Cook all ingredients except candy corn over medium heat until at the soft ball stage, or until you can drop a little in a cup of cold water and the candy will set up and feel soft.

Pour over a large full bowl of popcorn (1/2 cup kernels, air popped)
Stir in candy corn as desired.

Enjoy!
